Sanatan Raksha Dal has taken up this project at a national level. Simple mass marriages of poor young girls and boys are performed by many branches and Prants regularly.
The scriptures prescribe 16 sanskaras for the Hindus and marriage is one of the most important sanskar. With the increasing dowry demand and ostentatious style of marriage celebrations, the daughter’s marriage has become a heavy burden for parents of moderate means. Parishad organizes marriages in the case of needy families collectively. Sometimes hundreds of brides and bridegrooms participate in one celebration. There is a combined feast and essential household items, clothes, etc. are donated. Annually, Parishad helps in organizing marriages of a large number of couples belonging to weaker sections of society.
While organizing a mass marriage, the following things are taken into consideration:
1. In mass simple marriage, marriage of as many couples as possible is planned and a mass procession is taken out with the banner and band of Sanatan Raksha Dal.
2. For marriage, the age of the groom is ensured to be 21 years and the age of the bride to be 18 years.
3. After selecting the bride and groom for the marriage, Sanatan Raksha Dal and its members bear the necessary items, banquet, band, and other expenses for the marriage.
4. Cooperation of local municipality, charitable trusts, and other social organizations is also taken.
5. Women's participation is definitely ensured.
6. Marriage of daughters of widowed sisters is also included in this collective simple marriage project.
7. Necessary household items, clothes, some light jewelry, etc. are also arranged.
8. Arrangements are made so that the people of the city can also participate in this project.
9. An affidavit for registration in which complete details of the bride and groom, photo, date of birth, signatures of parents, etc. is given.
In the past years, a large number of marriages of sons and daughters of poor families have been solemnized in the Sanatan Raksha Dal states including Punjab, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Maharashtra, and Delhi.
